Pete Townshend of The Who says the band’s ‘Live At Leeds’ album was the beginning of heavy metal.
A reporter with the Toronto Sun said recently that the album didn’t have “that classic ferocious rock sound.”
“It doesn’t sound like The Who from those early heavy metal years. We sort of invented heavy metal with Live At Leeds”, according to Townshend.
